For the past several years, I have been finding ways to grow myself both INSTRUCTIONALLY and STRATEGICALLY. For many years in St. Paul Public Schools, my role though administrative, coaching teachers and students through behavioral, culture and climate concerns and other duties connected to behavior. Tracking discipline data through multiple media, and identifying patterns and problem areas throughout the school. In doing so, I began to notice that behavior data was the same for several years in a row. Though the referrals were decreasing, the disproportionality in the data was telling, and student achievement continued to drop each year. After several conversations with mentors and other colleagues, and sitting at the very first class in the internship, the phrase "shift in mindset" began to sink in. I began to shift my thinking.
